“Tilt The Moon” by Taylor & Marie
This year I have been involved with a new project by Jodie Marie and Samuel Taylor. The EP was great fun to make, and I feel that comes across on the recordings. All I Need has been playlisted on BBC Radio Wales, and been played on a number of BBC Radio 2 slots as well. I love all the songs on this EP, but Never Let You Down is a personal favourite……I borrowed a 70’s Fender Jazz Bass off a friend and used it on that track, and it was an absolute beast of a bass! I’m really happy with this, and hope people enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it!

“Parlour EP” by Valleyers
The Parlour EP was released on the 21st August 2014. We recorded it in one night at StudiOwz and mixed it over the following day and a half. It was pretty intense as we were on a VERY tight deadline! This was a special live recording for John Kennedy’s XFM X-Posure Radio Show, with guest host Simon Raymonde of Bella Union Records, and the EP is now available to buy/download from Bandcamp. Check it out with the widget below, and buy if you like it. All proceeds will be going towards recording a full length album!
“As Time Stands Still” by Jimmy Brewer
I was very fortunate to play bass on this album, and we’re all very proud of what we achieved. Rhythm tracks recorded at The Fish Factory, London, and all other audio recorded in StudiOwz, Pembrokeshire. Buy the album on iTunes, or visit JimmyBrewer.co.uk for hard copies and other purchasing options.
“Hill of Doors” by Hill of Doors
Released March 2014, this is a studio only project with myself, Tom Chant, Jack Beddis and Owain Fleetwood Jenkins. We have no plans to gig, we just wanted to create an EP because the music already existed in an embryonic state. If people like it, then cool (you can buy it from the bandcamp link below and facilitate us doing another EP one day), if people don’t like it, that’s fine too. On a personal note, this feels like a pretty good mark of how I play and where I am in my development, and that’s cool with me.
Other Audio Samples
Some other examples of recordings on which I have played bass over the years. Some are again recorded at StudiOwz, others recorded in Birmingham when I lived there. Most of these are pre-2011, as I recall. Double Blue and I’ll Be The Judge Of That are from the Sam Wooster Quartet album “Cap-a-tan”, played on BBC Radio 3’s “Jazz on 3” programme.
